Participation, feedback, transparency, ethics

During 2011 I'll be involved in a research project with people of the team of Anesvad. This organization is a NGO with more than 40 years of experience in cooperation, working in the three poorest continents on the planet. They work to promote and protect health as a Fundamental Right, while encouraging social change to tackle the structural causes of poverty, inequality and social exclusion.

We'll be working in the framework of the Improbable Connections initiative, promoted by c2+i (culture, communication, innovation), an organization that encourages creative processes and new relational areas between economics, culture and social organisations. c2+i is managed by Roberto Gómez de la Iglesia, with the collaboration of Arantxa Mendiharat.

Anesvad wanted 'to involve society in the Anesvad Foundation project by encouraging the participation of the people making up its social base (some 70,000) in such a way that their contributions can go beyond that of the membership fee. In doing so, it also seeks to involve partners and collaborators, create synergies and open the project to others.'

My proposal, that was selected in the open call, consists in applying design techniques taken from interactive systems to achieve greater involvement of society in Anesvad campaigns. The project is based on studying the ethical implications of this application, fostering a public debate in order to establish an ethical base. Building upon this, work will be done on the design and development of actions and tools that are in line with the research.
